Torrey Pines junior Logan Noguchi continued his record-breaking ways at the CIF San Diego Division I Championships this weekend, taking down the meet record in the 100-yard butterfly while also helping set another standard in the 200 medley relay.

The Princeton commit clocked a personal-best 47.50 in the 100 fly, lowering the previous meet record of 47.72 set by Torrey Pines’ Stephan Lukashev in 2019. Noguchi dropped .07 seconds off his lifetime best from last October.

Noguchi also pulled off a three-peat in the 100 back (48.46), though he missed his own meet record from last year by a tenth of a second. His best time in the event is a 48.18 from last November. He owns the meet record in the 200 IM as well with a 1:48.55 last year. At last year’s CIF State Championships, he placed fourth in the 200 IM (1:48.55) and sixth in the 100 back (48.74).

Noguchi also led off Torrey Pines’ 200 medley relay with a 22.12 backstroke split, helping the quartet break the school’s own meet record from 2019 (1:32.43) with a 1:31.91. His leadoff split marked a new personal best, shaving .21 seconds off his previous best from last November.

Torrey Pines cruised to the team title with 401 points, well ahead of runner-up Canyon Crest (268).

  2. Canyon Crest – 268
  3. Del Norte – 262
  4. Granite Hills – 165
  5. Eastlake – 143

Canyon Crest was led by senior Andrew Ko, who triumphed in the 100 breast with a time of 55.13. He was a little over half a second off his own meet record of 54.53 from last year.

Third-place Del Norte finished just six points behind Canyon Crest. Sophomore Julien Rousseau claimed a pair of individual titles in the 200 free (1:39.26) and 500 free (4:28.15). He dropped half a second in the 200 free while missing his best time in the 500 free by a few seconds.

On the girls’ side of the Division I meet, sophomore Cassidy Allison captured individual titles in the 100 fly (54.90) and 200 IM (2:02.54) to lead San Marcos to a team victory. It was her first time sub-55 in the 100 fly and she also dropped more than a full second in the 200 IM. Last year as a freshman, Allison topped the podium in the 100 fly (55.59) and 100 back (57.28).

Bonita Vista junior Sarah Hardin joined Allison as a double individual champion after winning the 100 free (51.15) and 200 free (1:51.44). She dropped over half a second off her personal-best 100 free time to go back-to-back in the event. Hardin was only about a tenth off her best time in the 200 free.

Runner-up Del Norte was led by senior Allie Byrne, a Fresno State commit who dropped over two seconds in the 100 breast to win the title in 1:02.78. Her previous-best time heading into this meet was a 1:04.95 from March.

The highlight of the meet may have come in the 200 free relay, where Torrey Pines (1:36.59) crushed a 14-year-old meet record (1:37.77) posted by Eastlake back in 2009. Sophomore Sophie Kelley (25.21), freshman Katerina Weitfeldt (23.67), freshman Aya Ferguson (24.04), and junior Rachel Yang (23.67) combined for the final time. Three of the four members of Torrey Pine’s record-breaking quartet are underclassmen, and all four will be returning next season.
