Clovis West junior Hannah Marinovich lowered her own 100 breast meet record with a 1:01.25 to power her squad past Clovis North for the CIF Central Section Division I title on Saturday.

The Tennessee commit took down her previous standard of 1:01.31 from prelims. Her best time heading into the meet was a 1:01.75 from March. Marinovich is just .11 seconds off the overall Central Section record of 1:01.14 set by Mallory Korenwinder back in 2014. She placed second in the event last year with a 1:03.39.

Marinovich also helped topple a meet record during Clovis West’s 200 medley relay, splitting 27.87 on the breaststroke leg. Hailey Marinovich (27.69), senior Abby Hill (25.14), and senior Julianne Snyder (23.49) rounded out the winning quartet, which totaled a 1:44.19 to take three-tenths off the previous meet record set by Clovis North last year.

The future is bright at Clovis West as the team’s other two individual champions were both freshmen. Sophia Oka-Fedder touched first in the 200 IM (2:04.21) and Audrey Hill triumphed in the 100 free (51.43). Both rookie standouts dropped over a second off their best times.

Clovis North (366) finished second behind Clovis West (432) in the girls’ team standings. Alexis Naranjo led Clovis North with a 200 free victory in 1:51.98. The junior dropped more than two seconds off her previous-best time from December (1:54.15).

Third-place Liberty got a huge performance out of freshman Sophia Munoz-Rodriguez, who captured individual titles in the 100 fly (55.65) and 100 back (57.06). She also led off Liberty’s 200 free relay with a 23.77 split to help the squad set a new meet record. Freshman Gracie Dean (24.25), junior Rylie Moxham (24.43), and sophomore Samara Moseley (23.18) joined Munoz-Rodriguez on the winning 200 free relay team. Moseley won the 50 free individual event with a 23.83, just .01 seconds off her best time from last May.

Fourth-place Buchanan boasted an individual champion courtesy of senior Olivia Sundgren in the 500 free (4:53.49).
