India Star Takes Dig At Critics Over T20I Selection

Umesh Yadav’s surprise inclusion in the India T20I Squad for Australia T20I Series has raised eyebrows. The pacer has come in place of Shami who has tested Covid-19 positive. Shami was expected to get a chance to prove his worth but as of now, it looks like Umesh Yadav would grab the moment. Umesh has got express pace and he is quite lethal too with the new ball in hand.

The pacer has played only 7 T2OIs and he last played against Australia in 2019. The pacer would be thrilled to be a part of the squad on the 11th hour as not many were expecting his name. Australians would be aware that he could prove to be a trump card for India.

Umesh Yadav on Critics

Speaking to Vimal Kumar, the pacer was quite vocal. “I did not play any white-ball cricket after playing for RCB in IPL 2020. I was doing well, practicing well, but I did not get the chance. Uske Pehle kisiko pata hi nehi tha (No one was aware of how I was doing in the nets).

“Everyone got to see how well I was doing when I got a chance with KKR in IPL 2022. People got to understand that I was not just relaxing in the off-season,” he said.

Umesh Yadav is a strong Contender

The likes of Bumrah & Bhuvneshwar would undoubtedly prove a threat. If Umesh Yadav gets a nod then the power-play phase would be devastating. We all have seen in IPL 2022 that Umesh has good control over his line & length. The Men in Blue have a habit of throwing surprises and who knows Umesh may pip Harshal Patel.

Harshal Patel is on the verge of a comeback to the National team after an injury period. There’s one drawback of Umesh which is he gets a lot of beating which is not good at the death overs.

Due to the death overs, Harshal may retain his spot in the team. The management would be aware that Bhuvneshwar Kumar can’t bowl 2 overs at the death after seeing his poor outing in Asia Cup 2022.
