A renowned opening theorist, Gustafsson was part of the team that helped GM Magnus Carlsen succeed in three World Championship matches. Gustafsson is also one of the world’s top chess presenters, well-known for his ability to explain chess concepts masterfully. With his deep opening knowledge and world-class delivery, this course will help players of all skill levels to get an aggressive and exciting 1.e4 game.

Throughout the course, you’ll learn to challenge your opponent right from the opening. Gustafsson will teach you sharp lines that will throw your opponents off-balance without ever risking your position’s health.

This first part of the course covers all the variations after 1…e5, one of Black’s most popular responses to 1.e4. You’ll also learn all the minor lines like the Scandinavian, Alekhine’s Defense, the Pirc, the Modern, and more.

In this course, your primary weapon will be the fierce Dubov Italian. Gustafsson will teach you how to fight for the initiative and disrupt your opponent’s position at every chance you get.

If your opponent plays the Two Knights Defense and sidesteps your Dubov Italian, you’ll hit them with yet another sharp line. Gustafsson proposes the fighting 5.Ng5 paired with the odd-looking but dangerous 8.Qf3 to light the board on fire.

Against players who try to stop your aggression with the Petroff, Gustafsson has the right response to get an unbalanced and rich game. Employing a venomous line that Carlsen played to defeat GM Ian Nepomniachtchi in their World Championship match, you’ll get your solid opponent out of their comfort zone and fight for the full point.

Inside the course, you’ll also find model games that illustrate the most critical points of your repertoire, along with tailored tactical exercises to sharpen your eye for common game-winning combinations.
