BURNING MOON has produced two decent efforts to date. She stayed on when fourth over 1200m on the turf last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She will enjoy the extra 100m on offer and the blinkers will keep her mind on the task at hand. If suited to the polytrack, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
Race 2: CAPTAIN MORNE (4)
Jockey: S Khathi – Trainer: K Mitchley
CAPTAIN MORNE has improved since relocating to the Eastern Cape. He raced from a handy position over 1200m last time and stayed on to finish third. The son of Captain Of All will love the extra 100m on offer and he should be the one to beat.
Race 3: HEARTSEASE (3)
Jockey: J P v’d Merwe – Trainer: G Smith
HEARTSEASE has good recent form lines to her credit. She stayed on at the finish in the Non-Black Type Wedgewood Handicap, but found one too good in the form of Double Check. She finished 0.1 lengths behind IDEAL ANGEL in her penultimate effort and is 3kgs better off at the weights. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. From pole position, she can notch up her fourth career victory.

Jockey: L Mxothwa – Trainer: W Miller
NAVAL SECRET has been racing in features in his last three starts. He won a good race in the Non-Black Type East Cape Poly Challenge over this C&D, three runs ago. The son of Captain Al takes a drop in class. He does have a wide draw of eleven to overcome, but is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

TUK TUK took on stronger company in his last start over 1200m on this course. He has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. He takes a drop back in class and on best form shown, he can notch up his fourth career victory.
