Race 5

BONUS TEMPUS has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when second over ten furlongs, just a neck behind the victor. He raced just behind the leaders that day and came three wide into the home straight, before striking the front at the 200M mark, only to be grabbed in the shadow of the post. He gets a handy draw two and will be hoping to go one better today.

SUBARCTIC had to be held up till the 300M mark and was then bumped at that point, before ending up in third place last time out over nine furlongs, just under two and a half lengths back from the winner. His jockey also put up 0.5kgs overweight and from his useful gate four, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

PICCADILLY LASS is a four year old filly taking on the boys, but she came three wide into the home stretch before staying on well to end up in fifth spot last time out over a mile, 5.2L adrift of the winner. She jumps from draw six and should enjoy the extra ground on offer here.

Race 6

A four year old and a three year old filly could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the day’s value bet, OUR FRANKIE is taken to lead the field home. She came four wide into the home straight before making good late progress to finish second in her latest outing over a mile, two and a half lengths off the winner. She faces a wide draw twelve, but she should be doing her best work late.

SMART VENGEANCE has not fared much better with her draw, only one inside the top choice, but she did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight last time out, only seeing daylight at the 150M mark before finishing well to end up in ninth spot over 1300M, 3.7L behind the winner and the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She has her peak run after returning from a 24 week break and should keep the former honest.

AIR BENTLEY had solid form prior to finishing seventh last time out over a mile, just over thirteen lengths adrift of the victor, but he jumped awkwardly on that occasion and was bumped by another runner shorty thereafter and was also reported to have lost a tooth striking the starting stall, so that effort is best ignored. She in turn is drawn one inside the latter, but nevertheless, she should be included in all bets. There are two unraced runners in the field, so keep an eye on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether either of the connection believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for either, or both, should be respected.

Race 7

SHADOWS OF LOVE is a three year old filly taking on males, but she had her consistency rewarded with her maiden victory last time out over 1100M by a length, this despite being hampered at the start and having to be held up at the top of the home straight. She hit the front at the 150M mark and then held off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. She was also returning from a 23 week spell, which clearly was just what she had needed and from draw five and having ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham in the irons, she will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle. As such, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

RESTRICTIONS was slow away, but showed plenty of toe to take over the running soon after the jump to win his last start over 1100M by 0.8L. That was his first run in Australia after relocating from Honk Kong and returning from a 53 week absence. The form of that race has been franked and the fact that his connections brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believed that he still has something more to offer them. From a cozy draw three, he could prove good enough to chalk up a quick double.

SO YOU BATTLE is another three year old filly in the race. She is recorded as finishing eleventh last time out over a mile, but she was just 3.8L back from the winner and she did not get a clear passage all the way down the home stretch, so she had her excuses. The form of that race has been franked and she should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

KAYOBI completed his hat-trick over various distances when winning his last start over six furlongs by one and a half lengths. He won full of running that day and from draw six, the quartet is certainly on the card. The gelding returns from a 22 week rest, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, winning the latest to prove his fitness.

LOCH EAGLE returns from a shorter 12 week rest, but has also had two barrier trials, finishing fourth in the latest. He ended up in fourth place last time out over seven furlongs, 0.8L back from the winner and the form of that race is proving strong with no less than five runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He will have to negotiate a wide draw twelve, but he should still be considered a big runner in this line-up.

AUDETTE is a four year old filly taking on males, but she goes for her hat-trick after wins over 1100M and the latest over six furlongs by one and a half lengths. She returns from a 20 week break, but has won both of her barrier trials to showcase her well-being and from her kinder gate four, she could chalk up her sixth career win.
