The world of girls’ and women’s lacrosse has emerged a stronger, and yet less predictable sport this spring.
This goes especially in NCAA Division I, where Syracuse, a team which has never won a title, has been on-form, beating the likes of Northwestern, Boston College, and North Carolina thus far this season.
Amongst the surprises of this season is that Denver University is 13-0, James Madison is 13-1, and Marquette is 12-1. These teams, along with ascendent teams at Army West Point and Loyola, are going to make the national title race a wide-open competition.
In Division II, Pace University and Regis (Colo.) are in the national Top 5 in the polls. Meanwhile, East Stroudsburg already has two losses on the season and might find the path to the Division II bracket a lot more difficult than in the past.
It should be an interesting six weeks between now and the national championships.
