Great Britain: GB women complete a double over China in the FIH Pro League London mini tournament

Earlier, Indian Men’s Hockey Team defeated Belgium 5-1 in the opening match of the day. Vivek Sagar Prasad (2’), Harmanpreet Singh (21’, 30’), Amit Rohidas (29’) and Dilpreet Singh (60’) got on the scoresheet for India, while William Ghislain (60’) scored the solitary goal for Belgium.

India made a fast start to the match as they took the lead through Vivek Sagar Prasad’s field goal in just the second minute of the match. Belgium, on the other hand, in possession threatened India’s circle, but the Indian defence was up to the mark and averted the danger. India doubled the lead through Harmanpreet Singh’s penalty corner strike in the 21st minute. They rode on this momentum as they went on to score two more goals in the last two minutes of the first half. Amit Rohidas scored from open play in the 29th minute, captain Hamanpreet scored his second and team’s fourth goal in the 30th minute on a rebound during a penalty corner routine.

India earned the penalty corner in the very first minute of the second half but missed out on converting it. Belgium, who were looking for an opening, earned a flurry of penalty corners in the later stages of the third quarter but the Indian goalkeeper stood tall to deny them from scoring. India also created some goalscoring chances, but Belgium upped the ante and went on to score their first goal at the start of the final quarter through William Ghislain. India replied with one more goal from open play through Dilpreet Singh in the last minute of the match, finishing with a dominant 5-1 win.
