May 2, 2023 — Top 10 for the week of April 30

Last week was the week when the Darien-New Canaan match was played, but none of the 10 games in the Gains for Brains Showcase were contested because of heavy rain on the north shore of Long Island. This pretty much robbed us of a lot of data we could have used to compare not only teams, but regions and states when it comes to the level of competition.

That being said, we still can bring you a Top 10 which we feel reflects what’s going on across the country.

1. Darien (Conn.) 11-0
Wave will host Wilton (Conn.) this Thursday in a match which will will set the tone for the 2023 Class L championship
2. Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.) 16-1
The Eagles have clinched the No. 1 seed in the IAAM Class “A” Tournament
3. Brooklandville St. Paul’s (Md.) 15-2
The Gators have scored more goals than McDonogh and given up fewer in league play, but they’re going to be the No. 2 seed in the IAAM Class “A” Tournament
4. Radnor Archbishop Carroll (Pa.) 11-1
Patriots have been amazing over the last few weeks, including a 13-4 win over Pottstown Hill School (Pa.)
5. Lutherville Maryvale Prep (Md.) 14-2
In a tough league, Prep has played some outstanding lacrosse and could very well threaten for the IAAM Class “A” tournament title from the third seed
6. Wilton (Conn.) 10-0
Warriors have two tough Thursdays to come: Darien (Conn.) in two days, and New Canaan (Conn.) the week after
7 New Canaan (Conn.) 7-1
Rams have Bronxville (N.Y.) today and South Huntington St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) on Saturday
8. Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.) 11-0
Phantoms were robbed of a chance to take on a good Summit (N.J.) side last Saturday in the Gains for Brains Showcase
9. Delray American Heritage (Fla.) 20-1
Heritage is relying on juniors Brooke Goldstein (64 goals) and Chiara Scichilone (50) as they advance through the FHSAA Final Four, taking on Bradenton St. Stephen’s Episcopal (Fla.) in the semifinals this Friday
10. Eldersburg Liberty (Md.) 10-1
Lions played Ellicott City Mount Hebron (Md.) yesterday

Who’s out: Northport (N.Y.) 12-7 loss to East Setauket Ward Melville (N.Y.)
