2023 PRO SWIM SERIES – WESTMONT
The final night of competition of the 2023 Pro Swim Series in Westmont, Illinois saw two Pro Swim Series records go down. First, in the men’s 200 IM, Leon Marchand cracked Michael Phelps‘s record with a time of 1:55.68. In the women’s 200 back, Regan Smith blasted a 2:04.76 to break both the Pro Swim Series record and U.S. Open record. All videos in this post are from USA Swimming’s YouTube channel.

23-year-old Beatriz Dizotti of Brazil battled 37-year-old Kristel Kobrich for most of the race before Dizotti pulled ahead in the final few 50s. Dizotti’s time makes her the sixth-fastest in the world this season.

Bobby Finke took control of this race, ultimately hitting the wall eight seconds ahead of the field. This trailed his 1500 free time at the Fort Lauderdale site of the Pro Swim Series last month by six seconds.

Shaine Casas pushed Leon Marchand under the Pro Swim Series record, leading at the halfway point. But then, Marchand took over on the breaststroke and got his hand to the wall first. They both cracked Phelps’s record from 2012.

The men’s 100 free was anyone’s race going into the wall with Hunter Armstrong, Jack Alexy, and Matthew King neck-and-neck. Armstong blasted a season best time to secure the win.
