The Lakeside Swim Team standout lowered his previous-best 2:05.02 from earlier in March, which also stood as the former 13-14 LSC record. York skipped over 2:04-point entirely with his big time drop. He also set an LSC record in the 100 breast, placing fourth with a 56.78 that took down Will Scholtz’s previous mark from 2019. York now ranks 27th in the U.S. boys’ 13-14 NAG in the 100 breast and 35th in the 200 breast.
York also notched a victory in the 200 IM with a 1:54.25, lowering his previous-best 1:55.16 from January. He added a lifetime best in the 100 back (52.86), dropping a couple tenths en route to a runner-up finish.
His 16-year-old teammate, Haley McDonald, led the Lakeside girls squad with a sweep of the breaststroke events. McDonald captured the 100 breast crown in 1:02.03, posting a massive three-second drop off her previous-best 1:05.35 from January. She also dropped more than a second in the 200 breast with a 2:14.21.
Etown Dolphins 15-year-old KC Braeger captured both the 100 back and 200 back crowns. She shaved almost a second off her previous best from January with a 54.43 in the 100 breast and dropped nearly two seconds in the 200 back with a 1:58.68.
Paducah Swim Team 17-year-old Madison Patel tallied top-three finishes in the 50 free, 100 back, and 100 fly, clocking best times in each. The SMU commit won the 50 free (23.49), earned a runner-up finish in the 100 back (54.64), and a third-place showing in the 100 fly (55.43). Patel’s most impressive drop came in the 50 free, where she improved by nearly a full second.
