Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 2: HOMELY GIRL (3)
Jockey: S Sobiso– Trainer: J A Janse van Vuuren
HOMELY GIRL finished 0.05 lengths behind MARIGOLD HOTEL in the Grade 2 Ipi Tombe Challenge. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If this run has not come too soon, she can return to winning ways.
Race 4: BOWL FIRST (5)
Jockey: J Greyling – Trainer: J A Janse van Vuuren
BOWL FIRST produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course under Hennie Greyling. He was bumped at the start, raced green but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The son of Rabada would have gained from the experience and will love the extra distance on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to beat.
Race 5: APACHE FIGHTER (7)
Jockey: R Danielson – Trainer: R Magner
APACHE FIGHTER followed up her maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 2000m on this course. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the step up to 2400m. She has plenty of scope and with a bit of luck in running, she may be the one to beat.
Top Bet For Today
Race 8: PLAYER (2)
Jockey: C Habib – Trainer: C Dawson
PLAYER followed up his maiden win with a hard fought victory over this C&D. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The son of Toreador meets a similar field this afternoon and can notch up the hat-trick under Calvin Habib.
Value Bet For Today
Race 9: SOUTHERN BLAZE (9)
Jockey: P Mxoli – Trainer: S Pettigrew
SOUTHERN BLAZE finished 2 lengths behind EYE OF THE PROPHET last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today. The son of Global View should have finished closer that day as he had to be steadied at the 150m mark. With a bit of luck in running, he can notch up his third career victory.
