Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 5: LUCKY LAD (5)
Jockey: R Fourie – Trainer: S Tarry
LUCKY LAD was given a perfect ride when winning the Grade 3 Protea Stakes last time. He raced from just off the pace and got up where it matters most. The son of Gimmethegreenlight won a good race on debut over this C&D. He looks to be a horse with plenty of class and should take a power of beating.
Race 6: PRINCESS CALLA (9)
Jockey: G Lerena – Trainer: S Tarry
PRINCESS CALLA was super-impressive when winning the Grade 2 Senor Santa Stakes last time. The manner in which she quickened up and drew clear of the opposition was eye-catching. The daughter of Flower Alley has no issues with this distance and she can notch up her ninth career victory.
Race 8: KISS ME CAPTAIN (8)
Jockey: R Fourie – Trainer: M/A Azzie
KISS ME CAPTAIN fought hard in the Grade 3 Sycamore Sprint last time, but found one too good in the form of Alula’s Star. She has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. She is the best weighted filly in this contest and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she should notch up her fifth career victory.
Top Bet For Today
Race 10: SHANGANI (1)
Jockey: K de Melo – Trainer: T Peter
SHANGANI moved up like a winner in the Grade 3 WSB Caradoc Gold Cup last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Nebraas. He won his only attempt over this distance, three runs ago. The son of Soft Falling Rain is having his peak run and will be cherry-ripe. Despite giving a lot of weight to the other runners, he should take a power of beating.
Value Bet For Today
Race 7: BILLY BOWLEGS (12)
Jockey: G Lerena – Trainer: A Laird
BILLY BOWLEGS did not enjoy the slow pace in the Grade 1 WSB SA Derby last time. He jumped inwards leaving the starting stalls, settled at the rear of the field and finished off his race strongly. The 2000m should be right up his alley. He jumps from a handy draw of five and with Gavin Lerena retaining the ride, he can go one better.
