India will need to search themselves after an appalling capitulation in the second ODI let Australia right in the back door.
After doing so well to establish dominance in the opener, India have now completely lost that edge.
That fragility is something that will have many believing they won’t come out on top at the Cricket World Cup, even at home.
India will take something from their stunning defeat but they need to avoid a repeat effort.
Mitchell Starc destroyed India with one of the finest spells of fast bowling seen in a subcontinent ODI but Australia now need to back that up and land the knockout blow.
Mitchell Marsh has been the standout batter for Australia when runs have been hard to come by and he will hope a world cup reward is in the offering.
Cameron Green’s presence in the squad might put Marsh on guard but it seems like they could have both in a lineup, especially in India.
Travis Head got valuable runs in the second match but the middle order were not tested at all.
Verdict: Australia
Australia could just sneak this series.
