Jim Ford, Haggin Oaks Pro Shop Assistant Manager Plays in PGA Champions Tour Event
Many know Jim Ford started as a Pro Shop Cashier at Haggin Oaks in Sacramento, CA. Jim has worn many hats at Haggin Oaks – moving from cashier to shoe department sales and currently is a Pro Shop Assistant Manager.
Before coming to Morton Golf, Jim was employed in the Sales department with Roseville BMW for 13 years. He retired in 2010. Jim got involved in golf through his friends and co-workers while working in the car industry. He automatically fell in love with the environment at and around the golf course.
In 2020, Jim participated in a cancer research trial at Sutter Health.
At that time, he was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, Stage II. He survived and became Galleri’s success story. Jim said, “The Galleri testing saved my life, and I am glad to assist in promoting their research.”
Earlier this year, Jim was approached by Galleri and asked if he would be interested in being their guest in the newest event on the Champions Tour as a Pro-Am player for the one-day event on Thursday, March 23rd. Immediately Jim was excited in anticipation of a fun 4-days at “The Galleri Classic” possibility.
The Galleri Classic, named after GRAIL’s multi-cancer early detection test, was held on March 20 – 26, 2023, at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA. This inaugural tournament featured 78 legends competing for a $2.2 million purse.
In the Pro-Am Pairings Party, the evening before the Pro-Am, Jim’s pick of the draw was PGA TOUR Champions Pro Kirk Triplett! He is an eight times Champions TOUR winner with an additional three-time winner on the PGA TOUR. Jim’s anticipation of playing in the Pro-Am the next day was at an all-time high.
Jim is grateful for being a part of the Galleri cancer research trial and being a spokesperson for Galleri to remind everyone how vital cancer screening can be.
He appreciates their invitation for him and his wife to enjoy their four days at Mission Hills Golf Resort and live each day to the fullest!
