Steve worked hard in his career for eight years to advance up the JC Golf ladder, beginning with his position as an outside service attendant at Twin Oaks Golf Course. In August 2017, he moved to Reidy Creek from Twin Oaks and accepted the position of Head Golf Professional. The introduction of disc golf, clubhouse renovations, and the upcoming launch of a new menu are just a few of Steve’s key accomplishments during his time as manager at Reidy Creek. In November 2016, Steve was elected to the Class A Membership of the Professional Golfers’ Association and is an active participant in the Southern California chapter.

The Crossings at Carlsbad Is pleased to welcome our New Head Golf Professional, Anthony Valverde, PGA
Anthony Valverde, a PGA Class A Member as of August 2021, joined the JC Family from La Jolla Country Club in May of 2022. At La Jolla Country Club, he helped define a brand-new role as their Outside Services Supervisor by raising the already high standards in service levels and creating several new sold-out membership programs. Anthony has been in the golf industry for the last 16 years with time spent at Turtle Bay Resort in Hawaii and TPC Stonebrae in Northern California.
“My goal when joining The Crossings at Carlsbad is to leave a legacy for raising standards and expectations for anyone who visits the facility. This is one of my main priorities as the new Head Golf Professional at The Crossings at Carlsbad. My positive impact in previous positions has ranged from increasing employee morale to a complete overhaul in hospitality standards when interacting with members and guests. As a natural leader, I take great pride in the responsibility of being the face of an operation. I approach all challenges and opportunities with a calm mindset, demeanor, and professionalism. My hands-on approach has proven successful with the unique ability to create a positive environment in the workplace as well as a more welcoming atmosphere throughout the facility”.

Don Gatch, PGA has been a class A Professional for 22 years and is excited about his new role at The Golf Club of California. He has been a resident of San Marcos since 2012. Most recently he worked at Carlsbad Golf Center and Emerald Isle Golf Course in Oceanside. He was fortunate to acquire his golf operations skills and experience from working at world-class facilities and companies. From Kiawah Island, South Carolina where he grew up in La Quinta, CA, and now the San Diego area. He is excited about his new role as Head Golf Professional at The Golf Club of California. Don is most excited about being part of a winning team that is passionate about increasing the member and guest experiences. He feels fortunate to work for owners who care and are happy to be working with JC Resorts for their leadership and presence in the San Diego area.

Kevin Sprenger has been working in the golf industry for 20 years, with 12 of those years spent in management. He has worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years as a restaurant manager. Kevin has been with his significant other Rachel for nine years. He enjoys playing golf, bike riding, and playing tennis. His decision to come to Cathedral Canyon Golf Club was based on the JC Resorts management team.

Los Serranos Golf Club is pleased to welcome our new Director of Golf, Tony Chavez, PGA.
Tony comes to us from San Juan Hills Golf Club in San Juan Capistrano and has over 20 years of experience as a PGA Golf Professional. His golf background began at an early age in Mexicali, Mexico. While his dad was an avid golfer and an employee at the Mexicali Country Club, Tony learned by osmosis growing up around the club and watching accomplished golfers. At the age of 16, he moved to Indio, California to complete high school and play golf on the Varsity Team. After high school, Tony attended College of the Desert and earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Golf Management which led to his career in golf.
Fast forward to today after 20 + years as a PGA Class A Professional, he loves this profession and loves helping extraordinary people do extraordinary things. His philosophy on player development revolves around on-course coaching, using The Scoring Method and creating a supportive community.
“I look forward to contributing to the guest experience at Los Serranos, one of the ways I know how, is to promote Player Development Programs. The topics we cover range from Intro 2 Golf, Short Game Mastery, Golf Fundamentals, Junior Boot Camps and On Course Coaching. With the help of Assistant Golf Professional Jeremy Gibson and Head Golf Professional James Cadena we look forward to helping current golfers and welcome new golfers.
