Race 4

Three 3yr old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but the day’s value bet, DAME CARTLAND is taken to lead the field home. She has won two of her last four starts, the latest over 1100M by a neck. She came four wide into the home straight that day, but finished strongly to get up in the shadow of the post. She gets a handy draw four and could prove hard to topple.

SEMANA has cracked pole position and is seldom far off the action, finishing fifth last time out over 1100M, 1.2L back from the winner. She raced four wide without cover that day, but still managed to battle all the way down to the wire and the form of that race has been franked.

DIAMOND CITY put her disappointing penultimate run behind her when finishing second last time out over six furlongs, just a length back from the winner. She was returning from a 21-week break on that occasion and was making good late progress over the closing stages. She has pulled gate seven and will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

Race 5

CHIEF CONDUCTOR has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when second over five furlongs, just a length adrift of the victor and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. The gelding has his peak run after returning from a lengthy 48-week spell and a change of trainers. He faces a wide draw ten, but he will be hoping to go one better today.

BOSTON CITY on the other hand has pulled pole position and raced just behind the leaders, before coming three wide into the home stretch, but finished off his race well to end up in eighth place last time out over 1100M, just over four lengths adrift of the victor.

LONRIOLI is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she followed up her penultimate run victory over 1300M with a thirteenth place finish next time out over seven furlongs, 14.2L back from the winner, but she had to be held up at the 200M mark on that occasion. She was immediately rested for 24 weeks and returned here after having had two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and winning the latest. She has a useful gate four and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

ACCEBER was having his first run for his new trainer and returning from a 19-week break when finishing second last time out over seven furlongs, 1.3L behind the winner. He finished well in that contest and from draw six, he could be the one that they all have to beat.

ARTIE’S AURA is a 5yr old mare taking on males and was reported to have been suffering from heat stress post-race when disappointing to finish tenth last time out over 1500M, 4.7L off the winner, so that effort is best ignored. She is drawn one inside the top pick and has her peak run after returning from a 24-week spell and she should be right up there when they hit the line.

BULLY FOR YOU has consistent formlines to his name, staying on well to finish fifth in his latest outing over seven furlongs, just over two and a half lengths behind the winner. The gelding is drawn the widest of them all in gate twelve, but he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race. He will also get Zac Lloyd, son of ex-SA champion jockey, Jeff Lloyd in the irons to aid his cause.

Race 7

MAGADAN won his penultimate start over a mile and then finished second over the same journey next time out, just a half-length behind the winner. He race wide without cover in that contest but delivered a powerful finish over the latter stages to just fail to overhaul the victor. The gelding attracted plenty of betting support that day and from his cosy draw three, he will be hoping to make amends today and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

OWARI also won his penultimate run over a mile and then finished sixth next time out when stepping up to 1900M, five and a half lengths back from the winner, but he had to be held up on the home turn as well as in the home straight, only seeing daylight at the 100M pole, so that run should be overlooked. He is sure to put his pole position to good use and bounce back to winning ways.

SPINPIX is a 7yr old mare taking on males, but she has posted two solid last runs, finishing third last time out over ten furlongs, just a neck behind the winner, but it should be noted that she raced five wide into the home straight and shifted inwards at the 50M mark, bumping another runner in the process. She gets a handy draw four and will have ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
