Race 4

There are two unraced runners in the field, so keep an eye on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether either of the connection believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for either, or both, should be respected. Of the raced runners, ROMEO’S CHOICE may prove to be the best. He has finished second in his last two starts and raced just behind the leaders before striking the front at the top of the home straight, only to be run out of it very late to end up one and a half lengths behind the winner last time out over 1300M. He is drawn wideish in gate eight, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

SIR TOM is seldom too far off the action, finishing third last time out over 1100M, just 3.2L back from the winner, but he came four wide into the home straight that day and then hung out all the way down to the wire. The gelding gets a handy draw two and should turn in another honest performance today.

BEETSON has only had the two runs to date, finishing sixth last time out over five furlongs, 4.8L back from the winner, when returning from a 22 week break, but he did come four wide into the home stretch on that occasion, costing himself valuable ground. He would have come on further with that run under his belt and from one gate outside the latter, he should be included in all bets.

Race 5

As with the previous race, there are several unraced runners in this contest, so the same comment in respect of keeping an eye on the betting moves applies here as well. DOUBTLESS LADY finished second on debut and then fifth next time out over six furlongs, just over one and a half length off the winner, but she did hang in over the closing stages and the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she could be the one that they all have to beat. Whilst she does return from a 15 week rest, she has had the benefit of two barrier trails, finishing third in the latest and jumping from a useful draw two, she looks to be the one to side with.

HEIRESS HERA finished second last time out over five furlongs, just a head behind the winner and was immediately rested for 52 week. She had two barrier trials for her former trainer before being relocated to anther yard, where she has also had two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and fourth in the latest. She will have to negotiate gate eleven, but the fact that her connections have brought her back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that she still has something more to offer them.

BESPANGLED raced three wide without cover, but still managed to battle all the way down to the wire when finishing third last time out over 1100M, 2.3L behind the winner. That was at a stronger center and although drawn one outside the latter, she should not be easily overlooked.

Race 6

A five year old mare and a four year old filly could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the day’s best bet, L’ESPERANCE ROCK is taken to lead the field home. She has consistent formlines to her name, finishing third last time out over seven furlongs. 0.8L back from the winner. She raced three wide from the 900M mark in that event, before kicking clear of the opposition at the 200M pole, only to be collared late. The form of that race has been franked and from a cozy draw three, she could prove hard to topple.

JUSTFOUR had her consistency rewarded with a half length victory last time out over six furlongs, when returning from a 35 week spell and a change of trainer. She raced three wide without cover and hung in from the 200M mark that day, so she had her excuses. She will have to overcome a wide draw fifteen, but she is a speedy sort who should be able to work her way across without using up too much gas.

SHEN GUI on the other hand has a handy draw two and won over seven furlongs three runs back, followed by a close up third in his penultimate outing over today’s trip, before making good late progress to end up in sixth spot last time out over seven furlongs, just under five lengths adrift of the victor. The form of that race is proving to be strong with three runners out of that event subsequently winning and he should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

REMATCH was hampered at the start by recovered quickly to sit just behind the leaders and then finished strongly to win by one and a half lengths on debut over six furlongs. The form of that race has been franked and from his useful draw three, he is made the value bet on the day’s card.

REMLAPS COMMANDER finished second first time out over 1100M and then made the expected improvement to win over the same trip next time out, albeit by just a head. The colt has had two subsequent barrier trials, finishing second in the latest. He has pulled gate five and should be right up there when they hit the line.

CALMER KARMA has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when third over six furlongs, just under one and a half lengths adrift of the victor. He was returning from a 40 week spell that day and tried to go from jump to wire. From the widest draw of them all in gate sixteen, he is likely to attempt similar tactics today.
