Race 5

ZARIZ NO WATER is seldom far off the action and delivered a powerful finish to end up in second place last time out over a mile, 0.8L back from the winner. He gets a handy draw three and should produce another honest performance here and as such, is made the value bet on the day’s card.

BELLEISTIC KIDS raced three wide throughout and hung in down the home straight when finishing second in his latest outing over seven furlongs, just a half-length behind the winner. The gelding stayed on well that day and has pulled gate seven and will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

BOADELLE is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name, finishing second last time out over seven furlongs, just a neck behind the winner and the form of that race has been franked. She raced green over the last 200M in that contest and from a useful gate four and with having 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice, she should be included in all bets.

Race 6

WINNING POINT is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she had her consistency rewarded with her maiden victory last time out over six furlongs, albeit by just under a half-length. She jumped awkwardly bumping another runner that day and had to be eased at the 200M mark, but finished off her race well. She was returning from a 23-week break that day and whilst taking on stronger here, from her cosy draw four, she could well be good enough to chalk up a quick double.

MANZONI goes for his hat-trick for his new trainer and since returning from a 25-week absence after victories over five furlongs and the latest over six furlongs by 0.3L. He hung in from the 300M pole in that last victory and although drawn wide in gate ten, the gelding should be right up there when they hit the line.

MONTEBELLO’S CHARM put four lengths between himself and the opposition when winning his maiden race last time out over six furlongs, notwithstanding being trapped wide without cover and hanging out in the home stretch. The gelding jumps from a wideish gate eight, but should not be easily overlooked.

Race 7

SPARRING has won two of his last three starts, the latest over 900M by 0.7L when striking the front at the 150M mark and then fighting off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. He has finished third in a subsequent barrier trial and from draw three, the gelding could record his fifth career victory today.

MAGNETIC has won three out of his last five outings, but missed out on his hat-trick after two wins over five furlongs when finishing third last time out over 900M, 0.8L off the winner. He showed plenty of toe that day and is drawn wide in gate twelve today, but on the plus side, he will get 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

DELACOUR is a 5yr old mare taking on boys, but she is another one who goes for her hat-trick after wins over five furlongs and the latest, a half-length victory over 1100M. She overraced in the middle stages that day and had to be held up at the top and early in the home straight, only seeing daylight at the 200M mark, so that effort was encouraging. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate thirteen, but she should be doing her best work late.

Race 8

The day’s best bet, ARTS OBJECT missed out on her hat-trick after wins over seven furlongs and a mile when finishing ninth over the same journey, nearly eight and a half lengths adrift of the winner, but that was in a Group 3 event and the form of that race has been franked. She came three wide into the home stretch and stayed on well over the closing stages and has finished second in a subsequent barrier trial She has pulled a convenient gate two and could prove hard to topple.

DIAMOND STAR had to weave her way down the home straight when winning her last start over six furlongs by a neck, when returning from a 53-week spell and the fact that her connections had brought her back into racing after such a lengthy absence confirmed their belief that she still has something more to offer them. She has drawn wide in gate ten, but will have 4kgs removed from her weight thanks to her claiming apprentice.

SMOKIN’ COD followed up her penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a sixth-place finish next time out over the same trip, just over four lengths back from the winner, but she was slow away that day and was reported to have not handled the very heavy going, so that effort is best ignored. She is sure to put her draw three to good use.
