Race 6.

LEFT REELING is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she missed out on her hat-trick after victories over a mile and 1850M when finishing seventh last time out over eleven furlongs, just under three and a half lengths behind the winner, but she jumped awkwardly that day, finding herself at the back of the field and having to come the widest of them all into the home straight, before staying on well over the closing stages. She gets a handy draw two and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways here and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

OUR CANDIDATE’S last four runs have yielded three thirds and a win three runs back over eleven furlongs. His latest third place was over ten furlongs, 1.7L back from the winner, but he came three wide approaching the home turn, before battling right down to the wire. The gelding is drawn one outside the top choice and could emerge as her biggest threat.

MYDEEL followed up his penultimate run victory over a mile with a fifth place finish over ten furlongs, 6.2L adrift of the victor, but he was bumped at the start and overraced in the early stages in that contest, before staying on well. From gate six, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 7.

Two 3yr old and a 4yr old filly could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but SAMMIBALLERINA could lead the field home. She is seldom far off the action, finishing a short-head second last time out over 1100M after jumping awkwardly, overracing in the middle stages, being bumped at the 600M mark, before only seeing daylight at the 200M pole and then finally hanging out from the 150m mark. She does face a wide draw thirteen, but with better luck in running, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

DOLLY JAYNE produced a powerful finish to just fail to catch the winner and had to settle for second spot last time out over six furlongs, just a short-head back from the victor. She on the other hand has a useful draw two and although returning from a 17 week break, she did win her only barrier trial to showcase her well-being.

MILINGIMBI put her disappointing penultimate run over 1100M in very heavy going behind her when finishing second next time out over six furlongs, 1.7L off the winner. She tried to go from jump to wire that day and from one gate outside the latter, she could prove difficult to reel in over the latter stages.

Race 8.

The day’s value bet, NEWS FROM PARIS is a 4yd old filly taking on males, but she finished well to win by a head first time out over five furlongs, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to her liking. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she could be the one that they all have to beat. She has pulled gate seven and should give the boys a good run for their money.

DEMITASSE has only had the two runs to date, winning the first over five furlongs and then finishing sixth last time out over 1100M, 7.2L adrift of the victor and was immediately rested for 19 weeks. He returns here after turning in two encouraging barrier trials and from a kinder gate three, he should be considered a big runner here.

WONDER BRAHMA won his maiden race in his penultimate run over 1300M and then stayed on well to end up in sixth place last time out over six furlongs, just under four lengths behind the winner. He faces a wide draw eleven, but he should be closing in on the frontrunners over the latter stages of the contest.

Race 9.

TIVA BAY has cracked pole position and came from some way back to win his last start over six furlongs, albeit by just a short-head. He was returning from an 18 week spell that day and did come three wide into the home stretch from some way back, before finishing off his race strongly. He will be looking to complete a quick double here.

TRUMPSTER has consistent formlines to his credit and although recorded as finishing sixth last time out over 1300m, he was just under two and a half lengths behind the winner. That effort was commendable as he was crowded shortly after the start, overraced in the middle stages and then finally, was denied a run in the home straight at the 250M mark. He gets a cozy draw two and should turn in another honest performance today.

HEMSTED made solid improvement to win his last outing over seven furlongs, putting nearly seven lengths between himself and the opposition. If he is able to confirm that last effort and with him having 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice, he should be included in all bets.
