Race 5

OCTOBER REVOLUTION is seldom far off the action and was bumped at the start, before staying on well to finish up in third place last time out over five furlongs, just a neck back from the winner, this despite hanging in down the home straight. He faces a wide draw nine, but on the plus side, he will get 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

SHADESOFMIDNIGHT is a four year old filly taking on the boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name, finishing second last time out over seven furlongs, just one and a half lengths behind the winner. She had to be held up from the 600M mark until entering the home straight, but finished strongly from some way back. She gets a handy draw two and should turn in another honest performance today.

OOJAH CAPOW tried to go from jump to wire but was run out of it late when finishing fourth last time out over six furlongs, just over two and a half lengths off the winner. The gelding is drawn one outside the latter and is likely to attempt similar tactics today. There is an unraced runner in the field, so keep an eye on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether his connections believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for him should be respected.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, KING’S GOLD followed up his penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a third place finish next time out over 950M, just over one and a half lengths back from the winner. He finished well that day suggesting that the extra ground on offer today will be to his liking. From draw five, he could prove hard to topple.

JAMAICAN RUMBA jumped awkwardly, but recovered quickly to race to the front before finishing third in his latest outing over 900M, three lengths adrift of the victor. He returns here from a 20 week break, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and winning the latest. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate thirteen, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy and should be right up there when they hit the line.

MISS TAPESTRY is a four year old filly taking on males and returns from a longer 25 week break, but she has also had two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest. She had solid form prior to being somewhat disappointing last time out over six furlongs, finishing sixth, 7.3L behind the winner and was immediately moved to a new stable. She has pulled gate seven and has her first run for her new trainer. If fully settled into her new surroundings, she should give a good account of herself here.

Race 7

KAPSALI jumped awkwardly and shifted out in the home straight which did his cause no good when finishing eighth last time out over a mile, 4.3L behind the winner, but that was at a stronger center and the form of that race has been franked.

TRIBUTE KING showed good improvement to win his last start over a mile, albeit by just a short-head. The gelding sat just behind the leaders in that event, but finish best to get up in the shadow of the post. He has a useful draw two and if he can confirm that last effort, he should be a big runner in this line-up.

CASIRINA is seldom far off the action and although recorded as finishing eighth last time out over a mile, he was just 4.7L behind the winner. it should however be noted that he did jump awkwardly and overraced in the early stages that day, so he had his excuses. From gate six, he should be included in all bets.

Race 8

EMPRESS ZOU is a four year old filly taking boys, but she had her consistency rewarded with her second career victory last time out over six furlongs by a length, when returning from a 23 week absence. She finished powerfully that day and although drawn wideish in gate eight, she will have 1.5kgs taken off her back for the services of her claiming apprentice and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

MR TABASCO raced just behind the pacesetters and then accelerated smartly to win his last start over six furlongs by a length. The gelding will have to negotiate a wide draw ten, but he should be doing his best work late.

SASSY CHOICE is another four year old filly in the race and is the stable companion to the top choice. She had to be eased at the 300M pole, but stayed on well to finish fifth last time out over six furlongs, just over one and a half lengths behind the victor. She was returning from a 15 week rest that day and from her kinder gate two and with having 3kgs removed from her allocated weight, she makes a solid back-up for the yard.
