Yemana Crippa had a tremendous summer in Munich. At the 2022 European Champs, Crippa, Italy, took the gold in the 10,000m and a bronze in the 5,000 meters. Crippa had won a bronze at the 10,000 in the 2018 European Champs. This writer, a gritty cross-country runner, met Yemane at the 2019 Generali Milano Marathon. Crippa spoke then about his desire to try a marathon.
Crippa is making a good decision. His 2:08.57 debut is good, but it does not stand out in this world of fast marathoners. Crippa has time to run a fast marathon down the line.
MILAN (ITA): After clocking 2:08:57 in the Milan Marathon on Sunday, Yemaneberhan Crippa will refocus on the shorter distances this summer, informs FIDAL. He said: “I’ll try again next season; I will try to be even more prepared, aware that we can do much better. Now I plan to be back in action in the 10km road race in Monza on 14 May and to be at the European 10,000m Cup on 3 June in Pacé, France, where I will be looking for the standard for the World Championships in August in Budapest.” Crippa struggled with stomach problems in the last five kilometers of his debut on Sunday.
