Race 4

The day’s best bet, FLORINO showed plenty of toe and raced green, but still managed to win by 1.3L on debut over six furlongs. He would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, he could be the one that they all have to beat. He faces a wide draw ten, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

A 3yr old and a 4yr old filly could chase him home, with the slight preference going to YIRRKALA who won over five furlongs three runs back, finished fifth in her penultimate start over 1300M and then third in her latest outing over five furlongs, one and a half lengths behind the winner. She returns from a 21-week rest without having had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust and will have to deal with a wide draw nine, but on the plus side, she will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

GLEDITSIA has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a third-place finish next time out over 900M, just under three lengths back from the winner, this despite hanging in down the home straight. She on the other hand has a handy draw two and will have 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

Race 5

There are three unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether any of the connection believe that they can win first-time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected. Of the raced runners MISS ADAMAS may well prove to be the best. She is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has only had three runs to date, finishing third on debut, second in her penultimate start and then fourth last time out over five furlongs, just over four and a half lengths behind the winner. She jumped awkwardly that day and then raced three wide without cover, before hanging out on the home turn. She will have to negotiate a wide draw nine and has her first run after a 17-week break, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials.

MON PIERRE finished fourth first time out over five furlongs, one and a half lengths back from the winner, but he showed plenty of toe that day. The gelding would have come on further with that run under his belt and gets a kinder gate three. He could prove hard to reel in over the closing stages.

SAMITA is another 3yr old filly in the race. She finished eleventh on debut over 900M and then showed the expected improvement to end up in fourth place next time out over five furlongs, just over one and a half lengths off the winner. She tried to go from jump to wire that day and was only run out of it late and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning.

Race 6

As with the previous race, there are three unraced runners in this contest, so the same comment in respect of keeping an eye on the betting moves applies here as well. AFTERBOOMER was bumped at the start and then did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, only seeing daylight at the 200M mark, before ending up in second place on debut over six furlongs, just under a half-length behind the winner. He would have improved with the run under his belt and although drawn wide in gate ten, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

CANNY PROSPECT has finished second in two of his last three runs and made good late progress when finishing 0.8L behind the victor last time out over six furlongs. The gelding has cracked pole position and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick.

MARTEDI is an unraced gelding, but he won his only barrier trial at this venue and will be hoping to make a winning star to his career.

Race 7

EXTRA SMART is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she struck the front at the 250M pole and then held off the chasing pack in the dash down to the line to win her latest outing over five furlongs by one and a half lengths and was immediately rested for 23 weeks. She returns here after winning her only barrier trial and whilst drawn wide in gate nine, she is nevertheless made the value bet on the day’s card.

REMEMBER JACK followed up his penultimate run victory over 900M with a second spot finish next time out over five furlongs, just under a length and a half off the winner, when returning from a 22-week break. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate sixteen, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much gas.

GOOD LIEUTENANT raced four wide without cover but still managed to put 4.3L between himself and the opposition to win his maiden race last time out over five furlongs. The gelding jumps from draw seven and takes on stronger here, but he may well be up to the task at hand and should be included in all bets.
