Where to Watch/Listen: Preakness Stakes Week 2023

The television audience watching the 148th Preakness Stakes at Pimlico on May 20 should be robust based on the announcement that Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve winner Mage will be pointed to the race, adding more excitement to this year’s renewal after a few years where the Derby winner either missed the Preakness or came into the race under a cloud of controversy.

NBC Sports will televise the Preakness exclusively on NBC to wrap up a broadcast running from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. ET. Earlier races from Pimlico’s card will be shown on CNBC from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the entire Preakness Day broadcast will also be available for streaming on Peacock and accessible on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app. Peacock will also livestream the 98th George E. Mitchell Black-Eyed Susan Stakes and other Pimlico races Friday, May 19, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET.

FanDuel TV will televise many races from Pimlico during Preakness week that aren’t part of the NBC Sports package along with action from Santa Anita Park, Gulfstream ParkMonmouth Park and other tracks as part of its usual coverage.

Racing from Belmont Park and Churchill Downs will be showcased on NYRA’s “America’s Day at the Races” from Thursday through Sunday on FS2 and FS1. This week’s slate includes coverage of Churchill Downs’ “Downs After Dark” card Friday as well as action from Charles Town and harness racing from the Meadowlands – check the below schedule for air times.

Horse racing from tracks around the world is available to subscribers on Racetrack Television Network (RTN), which can be livestreamed on all devices (computer, tablet and smartphone) and on TV via DISH Network, Amazon Fire and Roku.

The centerpiece of ABR’s livestreaming coverage this week will be a show Saturday afternoon on-site from Pimlico. Our “Preakness LIVE Pre-Game Show” will be hosted by Danielle Moinet, Dan Tordjman, and Rachel Miller and feature surprise guests from the worlds of horse racing and entertainment. It has a tentative start time of 4:30 p.m. ET and will be shown on ABR’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube channels and on the Preakness Stakes Facebook channel.

ABR’s “La Trifecta” also returns Thursday, May 18, at 9 p.m. with a new show. Presented en Español, the show is hosted by Darwin Vizcaya, Claudia Spadaro, and Annise Montplaisir. “La Trifecta” is sponsored by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association and the Florida Department of Agriculture and airs on ABR’s Instagram channel.
