Race 5

KA BLING has posted two solid last runs, the latest when winning over seven furlongs by a length. He went from jump to wire that day and hung on despite hanging out from the 150M mark. The gelding will have to deal with a wide draw eleven, but on the plus side he will get 2kgs taken off his back thanks to her claiming apprentice, Zac Lloyd, son of ex-SA champion jockey, Jeff Lloyd to aid his cause.

WRATHFUL goes for his hat-trick after victories over seven furlongs and the latest over 1500M by 2.3L. He returns from a 20-week break but has had the benefit of two barrier trials to showcase his well-being. From his handy draw four, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

YASUKE won over this trip three runs back, then finished third over a mile in his penultimate start, before ending up in eighth place last time out when stepping up further to nine furlongs, just under five lengths adrift of the victor. He has had a subsequent barrier trial and whilst drawn wide in gate twelve, he should appreciate dropping back to what appears to be a more suitable distance.

Race 6

AMORTAL has cracked pole position and followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a second-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, just a half-length back from the winner. He struck the front close to home in that event but was run out of it very late. He should be viewed as a big runner here.

NASTURTIUM raced four wide without cover when finishing fourth last time out over five furlongs, 1.2L back from the winner. He does return from a 24-week break but has had the two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and winning the latest. He on the other hand will have to overcome a wide draw twelve, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

DARCI DIVA is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she has won two of her last three runs, the latest over 1100M by 1.8L. She raced just behind the leaders on that occasion and hit the front at the 200M mark, before holding off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. She will have to negotiate a wide gate ten, but will have 2kg claiming apprentice Zac Lloyd in the irons.

Race 7

ASCENSION won his penultimate start over a mile and then finished eleventh next time out over 1500M, 5.8L behind the winner, but that was in a Group 2 event and the form of that race has been franked. He is drawn wide in gate nine, but he faces lesser company today and could well bounce back to winning ways here.

LORD ARDMORE was returning from a 20-week rest and ran on well from some way back to finish eleventh last time out over 1500M, just under five and a half lengths off the victor, but it should be noted that was in a Group 3 contest. He gets a kinder draw three and the gelding should keep the top pick honest.

SILENT AGENDA had his consistency rewarded with his seventh career victory last time out over nine furlongs, albeit by just a length. He did come three wide into the home stretch that day and from gate seven, he could round off a good day for 2kg claiming apprentice jockey Zac Lloyd.

Race 8

The day’s best bet, HIGH PLATEAU has only had the two runs to date winning them both over five furlongs, the latest when putting two and a half lengths between himself and the opposition and could be just about anything. He came three wide into the home straight on that occasion, before hitting the front at the 250M pole to go on to record a comfortable win. He gets a cosy draw four and would have come on further with that run under his belt and the trio is very much on the cards to give champion jockey James McDonald his second winner in the day’s Jackpot, should the top choice win the sixth race.

EXCELLADUS won his last start over seven furlongs by just under a half-length and was promptly rested for 13 weeks and move to a new yard. He has his first run for his new trainer after having finished third and winning his latest barrier trial and if fully settled into his new surroundings, he should give a good account of himself here.

LAVISH EMPIRE has also only had the two runs, winning on debut over 1100M and then finishing second next time out over 1100M, beaten just a head, but he did have his excuses that day. He was bumped shortly after the start, came three wide into the home straight and then hung in all the way down the home stretch. He has had a subsequent barrier trial and jumping from gate three, the gelding should be involved in the finish.
