Last day! Four more teams to advance!

In the Pitt regional final, it’s going to be incumbent upon Cal to get a solid number starting out on vault. If they can be top 2 after what is typically their lowest-scoring event, that would be a successful indicator for the day. They certainly won’t expect to be able to go under 49 again and still be OK, though Michigan State will also know that a repeat of the 49.0 beam from the semifinal isn’t going to be enough anyway, not with the way Arizona State scored.

As for Florida, they obviously have the personnel to fill in the vacated Thomas spots and still score well, but it is an unavoidable loss of tenths that lowers their ability to Oklahoma and still come out on top.

Rotation 1

Blakely – UB – Florida – maloney to pak, very small leg break – toe circle up to high – hits hs on high – toe 1/2 a little past, double front, good stick. 9.850

Li – VT – Cal – yfull, a little flatter than her usual but fine, small hop back. 9.800

Kalefe – BB – MSU – bhs bhs loso, secure landing – switch to tuck jump 1/1, around – gainer full, holds landing with arm wave. Solid.9.900

Williams – VT – Cal – holds onto a godo stick on yfull with an arm wave

Nguyen hits bars, a little past on her 1/2 turn on low, small rebound back on DLO dismount. 9.875

Harkness – BB – MSU – good full turn, bhs loso, solid – side aerial, good one – switch to switch is nice – cat leap to side aerial to tuck 1.5, stuck. Nice. 9.875

Clark with a bounce back on opening double pike on floor

DiCello – UB – Florida – hits Ray, solid hs on high – pak to etoe on to van leeuwen, legs together well – FTDT, holds stick with a little lean.

DeSouza – VT – Cal – y1.5, medium hop forward, legs on the block.

Nikki Smith – BB – MSU – bhs loso, good landing – switch to straddle 1/4, smooth – double tuck is hit today, just small movement. 9.900

Wong sticks her DLO on bars.

Lauzon – VT – Cal – Y1.5, hits, hop forward, smaller hop than Desouza and a bit stronger distance and body position.

Schulte – BB – MSU – full turn, solid – switch to switch 1/2 to beat, good height – bhs loso, large break, step back, bend over –

McCusker clean, small step back on double tuck.

Frazier does one of her best DTYs of the year, small hop back, Cal needed it. 9.900 to get them to 49.275.

Wong went 9.975 on bars, McCusker went 9.925 with a one tenth step on dismount.

Richards – Ub – Florida – maloney with leg break into bail, solid – hits hs on high – DLO, chest down, hop forward. Probably the drop number but a huge rotation score.

Stephen – BB – MSU – aerial to two feet, holds it with arm wave – bhs loso, some knee, solid landing – beat to straddle 1/2, hit – 2/1 dismount, some leg crossing, holds onto the landing, a bit deep.

Florida goes 49.575 on bars, Cal 49.275 on vault.

Garcia – BB – MSU – full turn, hit – bhs loso, pretty – aerial, jusst keeps moving into a good split jump, a little low in aerial – switch to split jump, clean – bhs gainer full, stuck. 9.875

Strong opening beam rotation for Michigan State.

Scharf – FX – ASU – front tuck through to double tuck, bounce back, a bit out of control – front full to front tuck, under control – switch 1/2 to wolf full, good feet, around – double pike, chest up, slide back

After 1:
Florida 49.575
Michigan State 49.425
Arizona State 49.300
Cal 49.275

Cal definitely improved on their vault performance from the semifinal, but a not-insignificant margin to overcome here now. They’ll need one of those big bars moments coming up.

Cal went up .350 on their semifinal vault, and Michigan State went up .400 on their semifinal beam. Keeping the pressure on each other and on Florida. Florida improved .050 on their semifinal bars, while Arizona State went down .125 from their semifinal floor.

Rotation 2

Jaslow – VT – ASU  – good distance on yfull but chest forward with a hop ahead.

Blakely – BB – Florida – aerial to bhs, solid – switch to switch 1/2, a bit under but secure, connects to beat – full turn – gainer full, maybe a little rebound, good.

Stuck FTDT from DeSouza on bars. Smith with a slide back on final pass on floor but keeps it in bounds.

Frazier second spot on bars with a stuck DLO. Good one, looked a little close coming in on her pak but worked out of it smoothly.

Good control on yfull landing from Mangahas, small rebound in place.

Lazzari – BB – Florida – bhs loso loso, good series – switch to split, good foot positions – aerial, smooth – full turn – gainer full, bounce back. 9.875

Good stick from Theodorou on vault. Perea hop back on DLO on bars.

Smith – VT – ASU – y1.5, gets her stick well. Tackles her coach. Andi Li sticks double tuck on bars.

DiCello – BB – Florida – switch to split, smooth – bhs loso, right on – aerial, solid – gainer full, holds the landing. Also good.

Williams – UB – Cal – maloney to pak, lovely leg positions – 1/2 turn on low bar – hits cast hs on high – DLO, holds onto the landing with an arm wave. 9.950

Arizona State with a big 49.450 on vault. They’re staying in.

Wong – BB – Florida – switch to split leap, smooth – bhs loso, secure – full turn, hit – aerial to beat, good – 2/1, stuck with a stagger. Florida right on with this beam rotation. And she gets 9.975

McCusker – BB – Florida – wolf turn, good – aerial, holds it well coming in a little low, no check – bhs loso, solid – switch to split leap, good work – gainer full, stuck. Florida will have a big beam result.

Smith with a secure back 1.5 to front lay second pass on floor for MSU, double tuck, controls front foot.

Payton Richards with a solid loso series, coming in the anchor spot for Florida – switch 1/2, under split, connects to beat jump – switch to straddle, good – bhs 1.5, stuck.

Schulte – FX – MSU – good FTDT, ever so slight movement – switch 1/2 to popa to straddle, lovely foot positions – front tuck through to double tuck, slightly out of control on rebound.

Florida goes 49.600 on beam, Cal 49.525 on bars, Michigan State 49.475 on floor, Arizona State 49.450 on vault.

After 2:
Florida 99.175
Michigan State 98.900
Cal 98.800
Arizona State 98.750

Critical rotation coming now. Cal will want to hit a big beam to stay in this, a possible area for them to gain that tenth back while Michigan State is on vault. Arizona State staying close with that vault rotation, needing to try to match what Florida and Cal have done on bars, both going over 49.5 so far.

Compared to the semifinal, Michigan State is plus .400, Cal is plus .375, Arizona State is plus .100, and Florida is plus .075.

Rotation 3

Nyah Smith – VT – MSU – yfull, struggles doesn’t get the block she wanted, lands short, step forward, will need to drop it. 9.700

Nguyen a bit out of control into sissone out of her first pass but keeps her life together. Reeves small slide back on DLO on bars.

Garcia – VT – MSU – yfull, better, small hop back, some chest position. 9.825

DeSouza on beam sticks her 1.5 at the end of a secure leadoff. 9.900

Samiley – UB – ASU – stalder to blind to jaeger to overshoot, good – DLO, good stick.

Hsu – VT – MSU – hits a solid yfull coming into the lineup but a pretty large bounce back. 9.800

Baumann – FX – Florida – back 1.5 to front full, nice control – finishes with double pike, LARGE stumble back and OOB, will need to drop that.

Mangahas hits a nice routine on the bars, a little steppy on dismount.

Maddie Williams sticks her gainer full off beam.

Schulte – VT – MSU _ yfull, better amplitude, hop back. 9.850

Scharf – UB – ASU – maloney is hit into pak, clean – some elbows on giant full, FTDT, good save on that landing, came in a little deep but held it with small movement.

Nikki Smith – VT – MSU – medium one tenth pace forward on y1.5, but a useful score, good distance.

Richards hits her DLO on floor for Florida, chest a bit forward.

Nice DLO stick from White on bars for Arizona State.

Stephen – VT – MSU – yfull, great amplitude and open but she would have liked more control, probably a tenth on the bounce back.

Frazier – BB – Cal – coming after three 9.900s – full turn, a little tentative – aerial to back loso, connected solidly – split jump to split ring, looked hit, bad angle for us – sticks 1.5 dismount, a fourth solid routine.

Wong with an important save on her piked double arabian, coming in deep but still gets the stag jump out of it – back 1/2 to front full, bit of a slide forward –

And Frazier goes 9.950 for Cal.

Wong goes 9.925 on floor, which I’m surprised by (not actually)

Lauzon – BB – Cal – wolf single, good – bhs bhs loso series, lands securely – switch to split, good positions – 2/1, dismount, stuck. Very nice. 9.950

DiCello – FX – Florida – front 2/1, crossover step, a little underroated with some knees – switch ring to switch 1/2, hit – wolf double, around, a little leany – 1.5 to front lay, secure

Perea – BB – Cal – wolf double, nice – kickover to back tuck, solid – swithc to split to beat, nice – side somi to tuck 1.5 dismount, holds the stick.

Blakely with a step forward OOB on floor for Florida. They already have that 9.650 from Baumann in there so will have to count this one thinks. Does well to get her 1.5 to layout.

Cal gets a 9.950 for Perea and a 49.650 rotation score on beam to establish 2 tenths on Arizona State and .325 on Michigan State.

It’s 9.750 for Blakely that will count, so Florida has just .050 on Cal heading to vault, where the landings will now be super critical.

After 3:
Florida 148.500
Cal 148.450
Arizona State 148.250
Michigan State 148.125

Tough vault score at a tough moment there for Michigan State. They can be great on bars, but it’s a hole of more than three tenths now. Arizona State staying with Cal but will have to convert beam as well as the three teams before them. They’ll enjoy that no one has been under 49.425 on beam so far.

The biggest test of all here may be Cal needing to show that the early-season floor landing problems are truly a thing of the past. You’d love to the in their position ending on floor, but they have to land. And boy does Florida want a good y1.5 day.

Rotation 4

Schulte – UB – MSU – good first hs – maloney, some leg separation there and in the connected bail – hits hs on high bar well – DLO, stuck landing.

Wong – VT – Florida – ro 1/2 on pike 1/2, one of her better landing controls, medium hop back.

Lee on beam for ASU, small check on loso series. Hits sheep jump. 1.5 dismount, arm wave to try to hold it, little step. Desouza control the step on back 1/5 to front full.

Zsarmani hits bars for MSU but chest down on DLO. Still goes 9.850

Good stick on y1.5 from Richards, just some knees. And she gets 9.950.

Reeves hits her bhs bhs loso on beam for Reeves, some knees, secure landing –

Stephen – UB – MSU – toe on to maloney – hits hs on high – clear hip to bail, maybe a bit of hip angle – FTDT, nice stick.

Blakely sits down her Y1.5 on vault. So that’s something. Will they have Nguyen go now?

Perea finishes floor for Cal with a solid 1.5 to layout. Following 9.900 for DeSouza. She goes 9.875

Jackard – UB – MSU – good first hs – blind to jaeger, lovely feet – bail, good handstand position – good double tuck position in the dismount but comes in deep with a hop.

Following 9.900 for Stephen.

DiCello lands a little short on her y1.5 on vault but OK, step back. 9.875

Clark – VT – Florida – yfull, large bounce back but a hit.

Nikki Smith holds the stick on her DLO on bars for Michigan State.

Yes, Florida will sub out Nguyen and have Edwards go. Smart decision.

Harkness – UB – MSU – toe on to gienger, lovely – nice hs on high – bail, good leg position – nice hs on high – FTDT, a little deep, some movement back, nice hit.

Edwards – VT – Florida -long wait, probably scared everyone with a gasp lineup switch – yfull, she hits it, chest down, hop forward. A safe vault but a hit one. 9.750

Michigan State is done on 197.650. A big meet regardless, but they will be .150 down on Florida’s 197.800.

Li – FX – Cal – good front 2/1 – front full to front lay is clean, controls the step – switch to switch ring 1/2, nice – they’ll just need one more hit now.

White finishes beam for ASU with a step forward on 1.5.

Lauzon – FX – Cal – front 2/1 to front tuck, secure landing – switch side to popa – back 1.5 to front full, stuck it, she comes in low on that full but always seems to find the landing.

That will easily get the 9.825 Cal needs to win the meet.

Scharf finishes beam for Arizona State with a small step on landing. A strong competition for them, just running up against a tough session.

9.950 for Lauzon as Cal will win the meet. They gave away almost nothing after that vault rotation.

Frazier – FX – Cal – DLO, controls her front foot – switch work is excellent – front tuck through to double tuck, hit to finish the meet.

QUALIFIED: Cal 198.075, Florida 197.800
ELIMINATED: Michigan State 197.650, Arizona State 197.475

Florida ends up being able to withstand the counting OOB on floor and defeat Michigan State by .150. Strong performances throughout from Michigan State and Arizona State. Michigan State just didn’t get the scores on vault, really the only thing they could have done. Michigan State has a case here, I think, but Florida was very very good in those first two rotations, which helped make up for a lot. Would be fun to go back and watch all the routines from those two teams to compare.

At this point I fully expect the Denver final, which was supposed to be the exciting one, be a total dud after these first three.

Individuals from this one will be Scharf for AA, Piedrahita for vault, Rushlow for bars, Stephen for beam, and Harkness for floor.

Denver is going to need a biiigggggg floor like Friday, because all these other teams can 49.5 on their first events.

Rotation 1

Heiskell – UB – Michigan – blind to jaeger, good – hits hs on high 0 giant full to double tuck, just a little rebound in place, clean start. 9.950

Elena Arenas sticks her yfull to start. Ruiz falls on her opening pass on floor. So that’s not….a big floor so far. And now Ruiz just does a back layout final pass. So if she’s also feeling it, that’s rough for Denver.

Wilson – UB – Michigan – blind to piked jaeger and misses!

Shchennikova hits her y1.5 but a pretty large lunge forward. 9.825

Domingo – BB – Oregon St – aerial to back pike, strong connection – following 9.850 from Peterson – good full turn -switch to straddle jump, small pause before split 3/4, was a little tighter on her split 3/4 today – gainer full, holds stick with arm wave.

Brock – VT – LSU – just a little shy on her Y1.5 with a step back, small but still a tenth step. And she gets 9.900

Koulos – UB – Michigan – a bit tight on first hs – blind to jaeger, good extension – bail, hit – hits final hs better – DLO, small movement, good.

Finnegan – VT – LSU – medium step forward on Omelianchik

Iwai – FX – Denver – back 1.5 to front lay to stag, hit, gets a little low in there – switch full is around – double tuck, hop to present

KJ Johnson is back on vault for LSU today. Good yfull, nice usual height, hop back.

Bauman hits bars for Michigan, step back on dismount. Bev looking in “cut a bitch” mode.

Gonzales – BB – Oregon St – aerial, good leg position, connects to back tuck – side aerial, smooth – cat leap to switch 1/2, large break, bit leg up wobble and a step back – front gainer full, stuck.

Brooks sticks dismount on bars. Bryant lands a slight bit deep on her handspring pike 1/2 with a bounce back today, so not her ideal.

49.375 for LSU on vault. Fine not great.

Wojcik – UB – Michigan – good first hs – toe on to deltchev to overshoot, excellent – good hs on high – DLO, slide back. So they avoid counting a fall and should have a solid score.

Dagen – BB – Oregon St – bhs loso, secure landing, chest down – beat to switch 1/2, under but not as under as last time, check – switch to pike jump, secure – 1.5, up to toes to try to control it.

So Michigan gets 49.650 on bars after they drop that fall. A good five routines, also bars scores continuing the trend from Friday night.

Mabanta on floor gets the landing on her layout in combination, a little low but found the control – switch ring 1/2 is perfect – front lay to rudi, little rebound –

Carey – BB – Oregon St – aerial, good legs, keeps moving into split jump – bhs loso, secure – switch to switch side, landed – gainer full, stuck. Nailed routine. One of those where they can take the rhythm, levels, side choreo things in that routine if they want, but no checks, super solid.

Hutchinson – FX – Denver – front 2/1, bit of a rebound – back 1.5 to front lay, good rise in that layout – switch 1/2 to split full, clearly around – front rudi to straddle jump, controlled well – attitude turn. 9.900

Oregon State gets a 9.975 for Carey (feel like they were OK with it?) so Oregon State goes 49.400 on beam.

Brown – FX – Denver – DLO, chest down, little rebound – switch ring to switch 1/2, good positions – 1.5 through to 1.5 front tuck, didn’t seem under but she does step back.

Michigan establishing a clear lead early.

After 1:
Michigan 49.650
Denver 49.425
Oregon State 49.400
LSU 49.375

Michigan establishing a clear lead early.

Denver gets a 9.950 from Brown, which is pretty high for me, which puts them into 2nd with 49.425. Solid but not as huge as the semifinal. Similarly, Oregon State will have 3rd place with a seemingly solid score of 49.400 on beam but that’s their lowest beam score since January. They usually need that event to deliver a bigger number.

While LSU is in last after vault (not ideal) they will note that this vault is up .125 on the semifinal, while Oregon State is down .050 and Denver is down .175.

Interested to see what happens to Denver on vault now. That was a low score in the semifinal. The challenge for LSU now is going to be getting through their weaker events with score that are better than the vault they just put up.

Rotation 2

Jeffrey – UB – LSU – maloney to pak, hit, loses a bit of feet at the end of the pak – good certical on 1/2 turn on low – FTDT, high, lands in a deeper squat to find the stick.

And Carly Bauman falls in the leadoff spot again for Michigan, this time on a side somi. Michigan giving themselves heart attacks.

Hutchinson with a step forward on y1.5 for Denver, legs apart on block.

Cowan comes in on bars today for LSU, arch in final cast handstand, saves it, step back on dismount. They went 9.950 for Jeffrey which was quite high. And 9.850 for Cowan. Loose bars scoring.

Brown – VT – Denver – really nice stick on y1.5, a distance deduction definitely, but a great landing.

Brown – BB – Michigan – hitch kick – bhs loso, good height – switch to switch jump combo, better height on second switch today but a check on landing – double tuck dismount, pretty large lunge back

Denver has Casali doing a full on vault today, small hop back

Finnegan – UB – LSU – hits nice first hs – piked deltchev, good – hits hs – toe on to bail, nice foot position – solid hs on high – double arabian dismount, lunge forward. 9.850. You have to take a tenth for the landing, but to have that the same as Cowan’s is weird.

Ruiz hits yfull for Denver with little bounce back

Koulos – BB – Michigan – bhs loso, solid – attitude turn, nice – beat to straddle 3/4, secure – cat leap to aerial, smooth – 1.5 dismount, little hop.

Shchennikova miracle landing on her DLO, lands fully tucked but doesn’t move.

Brooks – BB – Michigan – bhs loso series, solid – switch to switch, nice – bhs 2/1, solid landing.

Great bars from Bryant, stuck landing. Gonzales sticks a double pike on floor for Oregon State.

Denver 49.275 on vault. Improvement but not high the way the scores in this one have been going.

Bryant 9.975 bars. LSU 49.525 on bars, which they needed, puts them ahead of Denver.

Heiskell – BB – Michigan – cat leap to side aerial, smooth – switch to switch, hit – bhs loso, step back but saves it on the beam – full turn – 1.5 dismount, slide back.

Dagen – FX – Oregon St – bounce back on opening rudi – switch leap full, a little overturned to popa and straddle, good straddles – double pike, pretty large bounce back, stays in

Wojcik – BB – Michigan – aerial to beat jump, pretty – switch to split, well done – bhs bhs loso, securely landed – 1.5, hop forward.

Michigan surviving two early fall rotations so far.

Carey – FX – Oregon St – double double, chest up today, controls the step back it looked from our angle – switch 1/2 to popa – front lay to double pike, some knees, strong landing again. They need like an 11 right now from that. 9.900.

So it’s a 49.325 beam for Michigan, Denver 49.275 on vault, LSU 49.525 on bars. and Carey’s score takes Oregon State to 49.350 on floor.

After 2:
Michigan 98.975
LSU 98.900
Oregon State 98.750
Denver 98.700

That’s a rough position for Oregon State right now because their two best events are done and they’re not in the top 2 positions. LSU should feel alright about this current position, but they still have to hit themselves a beam rotation. Denver desperately looking for some of that juicy juicy bars scoring right about now.

Rotation 3

Garcia solid yfull landing for Oregon State, small movement back, not the most distance or height but good control.

Ruiz stuck DLO on bars. Arenas hits loso series on beam, a bit of knee – kickover, secure, a bit deep – switch 1/2, under ssplit but secure – 1.5 dismount, step back

Ruiz gets 9.900 on bars.

Casali – UB – Denver – good hs – toe on to maloney to bail, legs together – short cast hs on high – DLO, good height, small movement back

The 9.850s are coming for Oregon State’s yfulls for small hops back, which they needed.

Shchennikova – BB – LSU – following 9.850 for Arenas – full turn, hit – aerial, to bhs bhs, good aerial position – switch to split, solid – side aerial, holds it, doesn’t really give away a check – bhs gainer full, holds the stick, pretty large lean forward. But one of her more secure beams.

Rorich UB – Denver – blind to jaeger, close catch, casts out of it with an arch – DLO, small slide back. Following two 9.900s but they’ll want to drop this. But also 9.850 because these bars scores.

Gonzales goes 9.900 on vault with a bounce back on hers. Dagen hits her y1.5, hop forward, knees.

Jeffrey – BB – LSU – cat leap to switch side is hit – bhs loso, secure – standing front tuck, deeper with an arm wave correction – 1.5, holds it.

Brown also a little arch on her handstand on high but pulls it back, good DLO, stuck.

Wojcik hits final double pike on floor, chest forward with a step.

Oregon State went 49.400 on vault. Good job me on missing Carey’s vault. Not like it’s important or anything. But that’s an important high vault score for them. Vault scores have risen since the first rotation. Who had Oregon State beating LSU there? Not sure I see that based on the routines.

Hutchinson – Ub – Denver – good maloney, connects to pak, leg separation in pak – short hs on high with angle – DLO, holds onto the landing with a squat.

Morrison – FX – Michigan – FTDT, excellent landing – front lay to front full, controls the step forward – switch side, a little overturn to wolf full, good height – double tuck, hit, maybe a little slide

Pace forward on beam dismount for Ballard.

Bryant – BB – LSU – aerial to bhs, nice – switch to straddle 1/4, secure – standing front tuck, secure landing – split jump, clean – punch rudi, stuck. Excellent, saving this team every minute.

Brooks – FX – Michigan – FTDT, just does keep that front foot down, a little large on the lunge – split leap full to jump full, nice – front tuck through to double tuck, similar landing to the first pass

Finnegan – BB – LSU – bhs loso loso, secure – swithc to split, good feet and position – full turn, smooth – aerial, well extended – gainer full, step back.

Guggino – FX – Michigan – double pike, hit – front lay to a front full, good rise on front full, slide forward – rudi, bounce back

LSU gets 9.900 for Finnegan on beam for a big 49.425. They’ll have a clear edge for the top 2 and will get to go to floor now.

We can all agree that the judging at this regional has been the dumbest right? Denver’s bars scoring here might have been even more wild than LSU’s.

After 3:
Michigan 148.325
LSU 148.325
Denver 148.250
Oregon State 148.150

Well no one’s feeling that good right now. You’d think this was big trouble for Oregon State heading to their weak event in last place, but the way this crazy bars scoring has gone today…

LSU tied for first going into floor, they couldn’t really ask for a better situation for themselves even though no one has broken out on floor today so far. Michigan going to vault with the difficulty in hand and will hope those rising scores carry through. Going to beam is always rougher, but it can be a huge score for Denver. Like floor, the beam judges have been a little more…watching the routines today.

Rotation 4

Beeman – UB – Oregon State – blind with a bit of legs into jaeger, close catch – small rebound on her dismount

Wojcik with a good Y1.5, little hop forward, bit of legs. Ballard secure landing on DLO, 1.5 to front lay is comfortable, switch to switch ring leap, low back leg on switch

Brown sticks gainer full on beam.

Wilson – VT – Michigan – larger pace forward on Y1.5. But she gets a higher score than Wojcik. 9.900.

Miller on bars, bounce back on DLO for Oregon State. She’s following 9.850 for Beeman, so Oregon State getting the elevated bars scores as well.

Morrison – VT – Michigan – medium hop forward on y1.5

Mabanta – BB – Denver – bhs loso, secure – she’s following 9.950 for Brown. Watch out. split leap to switch 1/2, nice – swtich to split, comfortable – gainer pike, stuck.

Brooks, solid on her y1.5, small hop forward

Weaver good stick on double tuck dismount for Oregon State. Good control today for Schehnnikova on her rudi to split jump to end on floor.

And Mabanta goes 9.975 on beam! This is going to get controversialllllll.

Heiskell – VT – Michigan – lovely form on her y1.5 but a large bound forward.

Iwai with a secure bhs loso on beam – side aerial into a nice split position on split jump – gainer full, a little low, stuck landing, nice.

Brock lands a little short on her double pike on floor, step forward. back 1.5 to front full is nice.

Morgan – Vt – Michigan – yfull, excellent stick and they needed it.

Schlottman – BB – Denver – full turn, good – bhs loso, more form than the others, check – very low on a split jump 3/4 position but secure – side aerial, hit, a bit of knee – bhs gainer full, stuck.

49.425 for Michigan on vault. Not immune.

Arenas – FX – LSU – front 2/1, controls step out –

Carey – Ub – Oregon St – maloney to bhardwaj is hit – van leeuwen, solid – hits hs on high – FTDT, small slide.

Oregon State will not be able to catch Michigan.

Arenas finishes with a stuck front lay to front full, legs apart on layout.

Thompson – BB – Denver – side aerial to bhs, some feet and amplitude, but secure – swtich to switch, nice – side aerial to layout 1.5, tried to stick but ends up with a hop forward and lean-full salute.

Oregon State comes up only one tenth shy of Michigan.

Arenas 9.875 on floor.

Finnegan – FX – LSU – double arabian, connects into stag, a little low on stag – 2.5 to front tuck, an awkward deep landing with a dance step around, opens the door to take some things.

Hutchinson – BB – Denver – they have defeated Michigan already and have qualified – kickover to bhs is nice – switch to split, nice – kickover, solid – gainer full.

I think Bryant needs 9.950.

Bryant – FX – LSU – double arabian, stuck landing – front lay to rudi, nailed the landing – split jump – switch ring to switch 1/2, hit. Well let’s see. I imagine they’ll go there for her.

Hutchinson went 9.950. Denver goes 197.875 final score.

9.950 for Bryant! LSU takes the position based on the counting all six scores tiebreak!

You add the sixth scores in, and Michigan had those two falls that they dropped.

QUALIFIED: Denver 197.875, LSU 197.750
ELIMINATED: Michigan 197.750, Oregon State 197.650

To be honest, I don’t see it. You love an upset, but Michigan was easily a top-2 team today, and for my money, the top team today. At least from the routines I saw. I said the previous meet would be a fun rewatch, but um….THIS ONE. Very interested to see who I think should have advanced after watching all the routines with more non-live focus.

I love that they have the calculator out. Dude, Michigan had two falls, they lose the tiebreak.

Individual qualifiers will be Heiskell for AA, Morrison for vault, Wojcik for bars, Carey for beam and Brooks for floor. Also wild that Carey doesn’t go for AA.

So it wasn’t a dud I guess.

Bracket blown up on this side of the draw. Opportunities abound.
