Tournament 411

The tournament has five rounds, including the first round play-in meets, second round, regional finals, semifinals, and Four on the Floor final.

Tournament schedule

  • March 29 – April 2 – Regionals
  • April 13 – Semifinals & Individual Finals at 3 and 9 p.m. ET on ESPN 2
  • April 15 – National Championship at 4 p.m. ET on ABC

Denver, UCLA, Oklahoma, and Pittsburgh (who did not qualify to the tournament) are this year’s regional hosts.

The top 36 teams, based on the final National Qualifying Score (NQS) ranking of the year, were selected for regional competition, with the committee naming the top 16 teams and seeding them in the bracket. The current seeding will be maintained through the championship. The only teams not seeded according to NQS were Denver and Missouri, who were swapped as Denver is hosting a regional. Teams 17-36 were placed geographically at one of the four regional sites. Nine teams will compete at each of the four regional sites. The first round consists of a “play-in” dual meet between the two lowest ranked teams in that regional, with the winner advancing to the second round.

The top 12 all-around competitors and top 16 event specialists were also selected based on NQS and placed geographically at one of the four regional sites, keeping individuals from the same team together.

The list of all-arounders and individual event specialists includes individual qualifying scores from the athletes competing on teams in the first round to ensure those individuals will compete in the individual competition even if their team does not advance from the first round play-in meets.

The top two teams from each regional final will advance to the national championships. Additionally, the top all-around competitor and top event specialist from the second round at each regional (who is not on a team advancing to nationals) will advance to the national championships. Event specialist qualifiers will only compete in the events they qualified.
